Conservative Site of the Day for September 27th, 1996.
I would like to give a sampling on my political views out here on the web. This is so people can see what I think and the reasoning behind it. I would like to hear what you think about my views. You can mail me after reading each section. I will put my e-mail address at the end of each section so all you have to do is click on it!
Conservatives Versus Libertarians I have known that I am a conservative since about 1984. But as I work on thinking certain issues through I had one side of my mind fighting the other side of my mind. In 1995 a friend who is a libertarian and myself got into a discussion about wether I was really a libertarian or a conservative. He though I was more of a libertarian than a conservative. I, however, did not believe him. I knew I was truly conservative. There was only one thing bothering me. What is the major difference between a conservative and a libertarian. In the Spring of 1996 I was enrolled in Philosophy 260: Intro to Ethics. As I sat in class one day listening to my professor Dan Holbrook lecture I was thinking about why a conservative is different from a libertarian. I knew from his lectures and my reading that a libertarian believes that doing something is not wrong as long as it does not hurt anyone. Then it hit me morals and values. That is the difference. A conservative has morals and values that guides their views. Some of the things a conservative believe does not necessarly hurt anyone else, but they still believe that doing it is wrong. The issues that I would like to discuss are included in this table. If I missed an issue or you would like to argue with my current view just write me some mail and I will respond.
